Planets and their influences

Each of the 10 planets in our solar system [in astrology the Sun and Moon are regarded as planets] imparts its energy on our lives in a specific way, and the influence of each planet differs between a Natal Destiny Chart and a Friends & Lovers Chart (also know as Relationship or Synastry charts).

The faster moving planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) exert influences which are personal to each of us; the slower planets (Jupiter and Saturn) exert background influences that shape our expectations of life; while the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are so slow that they influence a whole generation.

Each planet is represented by a symbol - called a glyph - which encapsulates the planet's essence. Each glyph is made up of a combination of three basic shapes: a circle, a crescent and a cross.

The Cross symbolises the four elements of the material world (Fire, Earth, Water and Air), and corresponds to the physical body and its sensations - in fact, all matter.
The Circle is the symbol for pure spirit and represents eternity, the realm of infinite possibilities. The circle also corresponds to the Sun - the vital force that pervades all creation.
The Crescent is the symbol for pure soul and contains the blueprint that gives form to all life. The shape corresponds to the Moon and the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth.
